This is a really great restaurant. The basics of the restaurant, the taste, are the best, and the great kindness made me even more delighted. Thank you so much for making the last meal of my trip to Lyon wonderful. I would definitely travel to Lyon again just because of this restaurant.

This was a lovely restaurant. We enjoyed our dinner very much and the owner was welcoming and very kindly explained almost the entire menu to us in English. The steak was great and the dessert- creme brulee- was fantastic. I highly recommend Moon Restaurant and would gladly return if I were in Lyon for a longer time. Reservations are recommended.

An unassuming spot, but absolutely delicious. The ingredients were delicious and fresh, the plates were beautifully presented. The black truffle ravioli and salmon tartare was delicious. The ambiance is nice and relaxing and the outdoor patio gave space for our little one to run around. We only speak English, and unsurprisingly have had a hard time ordering in France. The service was impeccable with the server explaining all of our options in detail. Fast service and delicious food!

I have been to several hundred restaurants and have never felt so compelled to write a review until this amazing experience. Let me tell you a story. While my wife and I were searching for a restaurant to have dinner for my birthday while in Lyon, we stumbled upon MOON RESTAURANT. We tried not to have high expectations as we have been to many similarly high rated places in the past that ended up leaving us disappointed, but MOON seemed promising from looking at the photos online. Reservations can be made online, but the system did not accept my non-French phone number so I called to make a reservation and the process could not have been easier. The location is a bit tucked away and not on the main surface street, but took us about 30 seconds to figure out where it was (up the stairs/elevator or across from the entrance to Hotel des Congres). When we arrived, we were greeted almost immediately by a very kind and energetic waitress who offered a few different table choices. There are tables inside and outside to choose from. We chose one inside by the front window which was perfect for us. As we sat at our table, the waitress notified the chef that we had arrived. She then told us that she would be back in a couple of minutes to help us translate the menu if needed, as she was also assisting another set of customers. We looked at the menu and knew exactly what we wanted as our starters and mains. The restaurant does not serve alcohol, but has a surprisingly great selection of non-alcoholic beverages. We ordered the burrata di buffala (buffalo milk mozzarella filled with cream) and tartare de saumon (salmon tartare) as our starters. For our mains, we had the ravioles a la creme de truffe noir (ravioles with black truffle cream) and the entrecote (beef steak) medium rare with white cheese sauce. My wife ordered the litchi drink while I had 2 agave flavored non-alcoholic beers. Within a few minutes, our starters arrived which we were very impressed about as every other place we have been to so far in France had us waiting over 15 minutes before anything arrived. After we finished our starters, the waitress cleared our plates and our mains arrived within a few minutes. The plates looked absolutely stunning and tasted amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection and the timing on the course arrivals were perfect as well. You can taste the passion and love that the chef has for cooking and turning food into art. We normally do not order dessert, but all of the choices looked so delicious. After speaking with the waitress, we set our eyes on le moon chocolat valrhona (premium chocolate lava cake, ice cream, tuile, whipped cream, pistachios, various fruits, white snow/soil, and raspberry+banana coulis). It comes with choice of vanilla or chocolate ice cream and we chose vanilla thinking that chocolate on chocolate was going to be too heavy. I still wanted to try the chocolate ice cream though to see how it was so I asked if I could have a small spoonful just to try. The waitress said that she would ask the chef. When the dessert arrived, it was plated with vanilla ice cream while also having a full portion of chocolate ice cream on the side, very generous. There is no wrong choice in ice cream and honestly the best dessert we have ever had…. I had an espresso noir (post dinner espresso) and we settled our bill. For the quality of food/service at that price point, we could not have been happier. While making small talk, we found out that the chef and waitress are actually married and running a family business. By the way… the chef also prepared and cooked everything in the kitchen BY HIMSELF…. So much talent. Cheers!
